Monday, 23 September 2024
Over 2,000 South Australians have bought Koala state number plates to show their support for wildlife conservation. This initiative has raised more than $100,000 across the state to help rescue and rehabilitate native wildlife.
It is a joint effort by the Department for Infrastructure and Transport and the Department for Environment and Water.
For every plate sold, $50 goes towards wildlife rescue organisations in South Australia.
These funds are crucial and provide support in South Australia to protect and rehabilitate wildlife.
The cost of a Koala state number plates is $151. This includes:
- $50 contribution to wildlife conservation
- $31 reallocation fee to change plates on an existing vehicle.
By choosing to display Koala state number plates on your vehicle, South Australians can make a lasting difference. This would help conserve the state’s unique and vulnerable wildlife.

This initiative is particularly significant during Save the Koala Month. It is an annual event held worldwide in September to raise awareness about Koalas and their habitat.
